No, no, not THOSE candidates. Bear decided to throw his hat into the ring. After much consideration, Bear is running for Student Council Treasurer. He has "hired" his campaign manager & writers and started his propaganda.
I was going to get a "Vote for Bear" t-shirt to wear but Bear forbid me. It seems that the boy has a sense of honor. He feels that he has an unfair advantage and doesn't want to use it. If all the other candidates had moms who worked there, he'd be all for me supporting him. However, they don't and he wants me to stay out of it. He won't even let me troll for votes! He got wind that I talked to one of his friends and got a tad bent out of shape. My lips are firmly closed now, but it's so hard! One of his competition, a new girl, came up to me & told me that she thought it was unfair that Bear was running. When I asked why, she replied that it's because he knows everyone. She then told me that she would have more posters.
We hung up the posters yesterday. I *almost* counted new girl's to make sure Bear had ONE more than she. I refrained. It was hard. His have gotten a HUGE reaction. Principals, teachers, & students are all talking about them.
I think his writers did a fantastic job!
They really fit his personality!
He gives his speech Friday afternoon. The vote will be directly after the speeches.
Believe it or not, he is nervous. There are 4 other students running against him. I think he'll do great. If you remember around 2:15 Friday afternoon, give him a thought for a burst of confidence.
Who knows? I may have an Alex P. Keaton on my hands!
HAAAAA!!!! I love the "moolah" one!!! You must let us know if he wins. Our SC elections are in 2 weeks - it's always tough!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the props it takes true genius to make your own Chuck Norris joke :P Oh and by the way: Bear! Bear! He's our man if he can't be treasurer nobody can! Bear 4 treasurer!
ReplyDeleteHope that little Alex P. Keaton wins. :) Good Luck to ya Bear!!
ReplyDeleteHe must have awesome campaign writers! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think he'll win it in a landslide. Then we can silently say behind that girly-girl's back, "BOO-YA!"
What time zone are you in? I want to be thinking only good thoughts for him at the right time.
ReplyDeleteI so hope he wins. Or at least I hope he doesn't go to jail for counterfeiting money. I think that's a federal offense, missy.
I love it! Proud of him for doing this, especially knowing how nervous he used to be about speaking in front of others in 3rd grade. He's come a long way! So proud! Send him my love :)
ReplyDeleteYay Bear! I've always said student government is such a valuable experience for kids. I really admire his sense of fairness and desire to compete on a level playing field.
ReplyDeleteI love the slogans! Is Lamb his campaign writer?
LOVE IT... seems to me our mccain/obama campaigns can take a few pointers from Bear!!
ReplyDeleteI would so drive to Texas and stuff that voting box to get Bear elected! But he will win anyway. Those posters - fabulous! Especially the hoot and loot one.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Bear!
Wow, they are so creative. The chuck norris one, really kids joke about him, love it!
ReplyDeleteHow can he not win? He's got Chuck Norris on his side! Can we come and vote? I will be thinking about him on Friday. Let us know the results.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Julie
