What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride?
Okay, so this isn't futuristic in the true sense of the word, but it is my future. One day those sweet little kids will pack their bags, leave our home, and walk into their new lives. I hope they are happy ones. And, just like in this picture, I will be behind them...always.
This week's 10 on Tuesday is a list of the best games. We are a game playing family so this was fun to do. :)
This was taken at a baseball (Yankees) game in May. It was soooo hot that day. We walked for miles to get to the stadium thinking we would be in some shade. We thought wrong. Our seats were on bleachers with the sun beating directly on top of us. We ended up standing against the wall fighting for the little sliver of shade it provided. Lamb, who doesn't do well in heat, was not amused.

I don't usually participate in this, but seeing as how it's Thanksgiving I thought I'd give it a whirl. Here are 13 things I am thankful for that go beyond God, my family, my friends, my house, my clothes, my food, healthy family, etc.....

A family story....
Growing up, it was always a treat to spend the night with my grandparents. Mainly because in the mornings, when we woke up, my grandmother would ask what we wanted for breakfast. I'd say French Toast and Coastie Brother would say Waffles. Rather than making us pick just one, Grandmother would make BOTH. From Scratch! Yum, yum, yum (this was obviously before heart disease awareness). Sunday dinners after church were also quite yummy. And the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were the stuff you craved all year 'round and looked forward when the holidays rolled around again.
Imagine my delight when I told my grandmother that I could make homemade rolls from scratch. Perfectly. She gave me a sweet smile and informed me that was something she could never master. Her dough would never rise. I was stunned but so pleased.
I jinxed myself. After that exchange, something happened to my skillz. MY dough started to not rise. My rolls were brick hard and ugly. How could this be? Filled with disgust, I put the recipe in the dark recesses of the pantry. I was out of the mood. Scratch was put back on the shelf never to be brought out again.
Until this year. Big D loves my rolls. Having been denied for many, many years, he asked that I try one more time. With a huge sigh, I said I would, for him. So at the crack of dawn 9am this morning, I pulled scratch and recipe out of the pantry. With Lamb as my trusted sidekick, I attempted one more time to make my special rolls. I kneaded and kneaded while Lamb helped prepare the ingredients. I rolled and cut while Lamb dipped in butter and folded.
With bated breath, I waited. So far, so good. With more bated breath, I put in the oven and did a dough rising dance.
Look at the results!!!
Way to go Houston Dynamos*!!!! For the SECOND year in a row, they won the MLS series. They are truly the champions. Who needs David Beckham? Not the Dynamos!
Maybe we'll be able to find shirts in the stores? Maybe they'll get their own stadium?
I'm making up my own list this week. I'm on vacation this week and I should be getting the house ready for Thanksgiving. And, really, just a good cleaning since I finally have the time. However, I am on vacation so who wants to do all that dull & boring stuff? Here's what I'm doing instead:

This might be a little hard. There are several that I could pick. I tried not to make all 10 about Big D! I definitely have more than 10 songs that bring back memories of us. Looking at my list, you can tell I am one of the original MTV generation girls. A few of my memories totally come from the videos too.
In random order, here are 10 songs that bring back memories for me.
I want to publicly thank MY veterans for their service to our great country.
My 2 grandfathers both served in the Navy during WWII.
My father served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
My father-in-law served in the Air Force also during the Vietnam War.
And, most importantly, my Coastie Brother who served in the Navy during the Persian Gulf War and is currently serving in the Coast Guard during this war.
Thank you to them, to those who came before them, and those who will come after them.
Ok, so the word is really flexible. But, I can't find a flexible picture. Or I'm too tired to hunt. Or I just plain don't feel good. Whatever the reason, you'll have to make do with my version of the word. Here is Big D FLEXING his big muscle. ;)

I like the name Lensday better than Foto Pherrets so I switched over. :D Their word is Nature. While I do love my babies, this tree is actually what I want to show off. I thought it a very interesting find in Central Park.
