Um, Do I Know You?
Usually, when I get a friend request on facebook and I don't immediately know them, I ask myself: Is S their friend, too? S was my best friend and I figure if she knew them, then I must also! I really need to dig out my yearbooks.
I didn't follow my own advice last week. I had a friend suggestion from one of my friends. I thought I remembered the name so I requested the friendship.
I was accepted and then I immediately realized I have NO clue who this person is. And guess what? S isn't a friend!!!
I really need to dig out my yearbooks.

My husband is on FB now. He is having the most fun trying to figure out if he knows people or not.
I had a similar thing happen. I got a friend request from someone I went to high school with, and I remembered her name. I just didn't remember her. After accepting her request, I realized that she was someone I would not want to be friends with. Oops!
I get the most random friend requests on FB. Why do people I went to high school and college with but barely remember want to be my friend? It's so stupid! I didn't communicate with them then, don't communicate with them now, and their news is clogging my news feed from people I really care about! If I could do it all over again, I'd only accept requests from people I actually LIKE or LIKED or who were NICE to me. I have considered a mass "unfriending", but haven't done it yet. :)
Oh my! There's one girl me and some of me friends talk to, she said she went to school with us but we have no clue who she is! Kinda funny.
If you want to talk on FB let me know.
If I get a Friend Request from someone I don't immediately recognize, I look at their Friend List and see if I recognize anyone on it (you can usually look at their Friends even if you can't see their profile). If I don't recognize anyone, I say no!
And yeah, I have a few people on my Friend List that I wish weren't on there now. Yes, I knew them, but I wouldn't necessarily consider them "friends", ya know? Silly.
But I do love Facebook! :-)
I hope to be the one on FB with the fewest friends. I only friend back people I really know -- either through blogging or in real life -- and not just some younger sibling of a kid I went to high school with.
I've never done the Facebook thing. The Reverend and Courtney have Facebook pages that they keep up with. Taylor has one too, but after he joined, he never kept up with it.
So, two of us don't do Facebook and two of us do.
Facebook is pretty amazing though since it makes you able to find old friends from the past and they can find you.
I just haven't gotten into facebook yet. I feel like i barely have time to do one computer activity! Maybe someday, maybe someday! :)
Take care,
Julie
I did that too! I requested a gal I thought was a friend and realize OMG she's not the gal I thought. Now what? Do we go quietly into the cover of night and ever-so-softly delete them? Or do we dive into their fb lives? I'm not sure!

Facebook scares me. There are some people I don't want to reunite with.
Guess you have a new bud.
I did that too, except this guy called me out by name and said, "Hey, I can't believe it's been 20 years...let connect back up!"
20 years?!?! Try never!
Gosh, we have to be careful!
I can SO relate! Except, a lot of old classmates don't know who the heck I am. LOL It's because I don't have a last name on there... I guess I should, but there are people/reasons I don't. I'm thinking I'll just stick with sending messages to friend requests saying "Hey, this is Misty..." rather than take the chance of evil, mean, horrible memories/people finding me.
