February 2008 (Oh, What a Day)
Yesterday afternoon, Lamb, my mom, & I hit the theatre for the matinee showing of Jersey Boys. I'm not sure what I expected but the show wasn't what I expected. There was more singing than acting for one thing. It was fantastic however! The story was a narrative set up in different seasons told by the viewpoint of each of the Four Seasons. Tommy DeVito told the Spring story of how the group came together. Bobby Gaudio told the Summer story when the group started getting recognition and fame. Nick Massi told us about the Fall years. The group was still together, making hits, but things weren't good between them. Frankie Valli was the storyteller for Winter when the group broke up and he was on his own with a new Four Seasons.
In between the songs, they showed us a glimpse of the personalities. It was neat how the songs tied into what was going on in the story. My frame of reference with the Four Seasons was basically a group of clean-cut guys with one having a really high singing voice. And Frankie Valli was the singer of Grease. After seeing this, I now see that they weren't so clean-cut. They were Jersey Boys, after all. The language proved that! Oh, my ears! I looked at Lamb and asked if it was shocking. Sadly, she said it's no different than what she hears in school every day. However, the story was fascinating. My mom is now going to get the book so we can read more in depth about them. And I will never be able to listen to December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night) the same way again. If it comes to your area, I do recommend seeing it. The music is great and the story is interesting.
Walking back to the car after the show, we passed the Stage Door. There the actors who played Tommy & Nick were signing autographs. Lamb was able to talk to "Nick" for a few minutes. My mom told him that Lamb was interested in theatre so he asked her questions. I think she was a little nervous because it was pretty much a one way conversation. ;) Still, what a thrill!!
Above is "Tommy". "Nick" is in the background. I was so thrilled that he was talking to Lamb, I forgot to get a picture of it.
One day she'll be coming out of these doors signing autographs!
Next up for us theatre buffs? We are going to Rat Pack: Live at the Sands in March.
And, in a few hours, the Hannah Montana concert movie with Bubba's Sis and her daughter. That should be great fun too!

I missed getting tix to Jersey Boys and I'm so sad. I'll have to catch it next time!! Glad you enjoyed yourself!
I look forward to being able to say "I knew her when she was young" when that darling Lamb is famous in the theater!
Meeee tooo Misty, that'll be a very cool realization, huh! I'm excited for Lamb, what a memory for her. And might I add what a tremendous gift of a momma you are to her. xo
PS--is it me or is your Meez getting a little sexier than usual? Gettin all gussied up for a romantic beach dinner in your super tight tank, skin huggin skirt and red cowboy boots. I'd worry those fancy boots might get wet, idk. Just sayin...xo
Sounds like a wonderful show. I'm glad Lamb got an autograph and a picture and as someone who had a lot of wonderful experiences in theatre, I wish her well along that path ....
Oh yes - I hope she remembers her BFF's mom when she is rich and famous....
P.S. - Is your Meez wearing your Wonder Woman boots?!?!?
Hey D - I just wanted to drop by to inform you that you have a very, very special award waiting for you over at www.mistysmusings.com - I think you'll really like it! Come over to my blog in your hot red boots and tank-top and get your award!
D - you really didn't have to wear that hot tank top and sexxy red boots when we went out to dinner tonight - you were totally outshining me in the Cracker Barrel, woman.
First of all, Library Girl, I hope you get tickets when they come back!
Second of all, thank you all for believing in Lamb!! And, Bubba's Sis, I fully expect her BFF to be with her unless she's the one writing Lamb's plays! Regardless, I expect her BFF to remember ME too. ;)
As for my Meez. It IS Valentine's coming up, ya'll! I have to get gussied up. And, Stacey, don't worry about my boots. They won't get anywhere near the water. ;)
Bubba's Sis, don't hate on me cuz I've got the sexxy boots. ;) Altho, I admit, my outfit wasn't quite Cracker Barrel attire.
P.S. The prints too small, but the word Taken is on the tank. That's why I'm wearing it. :D
