A Post about a Movie You Might Have Heard About: Twilight

Last year, I kept hearing about this book series called Twilight. Because I'm a curious sort and I love books AND love to read, I bought the first one. And there it sat on my nightstand for months. Did I really want to read a book about a vampire? Fantasy isn't really my genre (altho I do adore that Harry Potter). But people kept talking and finally my curiosity got the better of me.

Once I started, I couldn't stop. Just like Harry Potter is more than a book about wizards, Twilight is more than a book about vampires & werewolves. I promptly bought the 2nd, then the 3rd. I had to wait All Summer for the 4th. I let Lamb read them after me. She was even more hooked than I was. I have hooked more people on the series since Lamb.

Then we found out there was a movie coming out. Movies are rarely better than the book. Sometimes, they are a huge disappointment. But, sometimes, it is so fun to see the characters "come to life". We hoped that would be the case with Twilight. There was controversy on the actors playing Edward and Bella. To some, they didn't fit the images in their mind. I was ok with Edward, not to sure about Bella. Same with Lamb.

I figured it would just be Lamb & me going to see the movie. Big D surprised me by saying he wanted to see what had Lamb all a twitter when the name Edward is mentioned. I knew better than to suggest he read the book.

Bright and early yesterday morning, the four of us hit the movie theater. Lamb was all giddy with excitement. She laughed. She forgot to breath. At one point, I thought she might be having a heart attack. All signs of a well done movie. ;)

The biggest surprise was Big D & Bear. They both enjoyed it. Big D can't wait for the sequel. Again, I knew better than to suggest he read the book. ;) Bear has decided HE wants to read the series. I told him while he could read the first one now, the others had to wait a few years. While he is wise beyond his years, there are some things best left alone right now.

Four big thumbs up from the D Squared Family! Bring on New Moon!

Ok.. so D, I actually grew up in the general area this story takes place in. Tourism in Forks is BOOMING! My fav flyfishing rivers are there. Should I read the books first or cheat and go see the movie?

Where I'm in the early stages of being a SAHM to a 20 month old I've really been missing out on this!! I need to find a way to read this or just go and see the movie already! Seems like everyone loves it.

Finally, a review of this movie. Oh, I've seen tons of so-called reviews, but all they have to say about the movie is that the actors are HOT! I have to have a good story, not just some pretty faces, so your was my first "real" review. I have seen on facebook and other blogs all about the HOT factor, and I was about ready to boycott the movie. There has to be more than that!

I am so out of the loop. I had no idea what this movie was or that it was such a big deal.. sometimes I think I live in a cave!

I just read the first three books for the first time a few weeks ago. And then I hear a movie is coming...yeah, I'm excited!

My newspapaer's movie critic made it seem that it was the worst movie ever. But then, again, it's rare to read a positive review from him. I'm glad to hear that it's not bad!

ps- I like that you said Lamb forgot to breathe - just like Bella does!

Lizulfisa, I always recommend reading the book first. But, if you can't wait to see your area, go ahead & cheat. ;) The movie is very faithful to the book.

Best Movie Ever! It beat Transformers on my list, and that's saying a lot because I really liked Transformers!

"I have hooked more people on the series since Lamb."....Me included!!

I'm so glad to hear the movie was good. I really didn't want to see it cause I didn't want to be disappointed. I also didn't imagine Bella like that (nor Rosie for that matter!). You were dead on about the books so I'll try out the movie. Can't wait now!!

My son calls this whole Twilight thing a "conspiracy against men!" He said every girl he knows knows all about the books and movie, but the guys don't know what the heck they're all giddy about.
Of course, my daughter read the first book and is looking forward to seeing the movie.
We discussed this at dinner last night, and the boy just rolled his eyes.
He's a BIG BIG BIG Potter fan, so maybe he should give Twilight chance... but he won't cuz then he'd have to admit he was wrong... which he won't do.

My son borrowed the book from a friend at school (a girl, of course), and when he forgot to take it home last Friday, he bought his own copy. I told him we could go see the movie when he finished. You think the books are okay for the 7th graders? Since I haven't read them, I wasn't sure.
