Sincerely 'Fro Me to You - Stepmother Edition

This is me in the Spring of my Junior year in High School. I really don't find this a flattering picture. I had forgotten it existed until I saw it in my uncle's web album. However, the dress I'm wearing? I loved it! I even still have it. It's wadded up in the back of my closet along with the shirts I wore on my first date with Big D, the night he proposed, and at our wedding rehearsal. Yeah, I can't explain why I still have all those. Big D makes horrible fun of it, the dress not the shirts. He says it's a classic '80s dress. I say Woot!

I was so excited when I bought it. It is a gorgeous sea green (the picture does not do it justice), buttons up the back (loved that), and also ties in the back. When I tried it on for my mom, my 4 year old brother exclaimed: "Ohhh, you look sooo beautiful. Just like a stepmother!"

He obviously was not current with his fairy tales. He also obviously did not know MY stepmother. She was the epitome of the Wicked Stepmother.

You can find some more 'Fro Me to You at We are THAT Family.

Being a true 80's girl...I love the dress too. Maybe he meant Stepford (is that what it's called?) like Nicole Kidman!

You look fabulous in that photo!

BTW, we are staying put, also, unless Ike changes drastically.

Love the quote from your brother. I think it's sweet you keep clothes that meant a lot to you.

Ah, the mouths of babes. Sometimes you just need the duct tape.

I think it's great that you saved the dress...and the shirts!

I think you look pretty, and it is charming that you kept the outfits that meant something. You've had it so long it might be back in...

D, you crack me up! You look so good in that picture and I think it's very romantic of you to keep all those clothing articles. And your brother?...what a cutie, in a 4-year-old kind of way!

I think you look very pretty. Please take a picture in this dress now, not for laughs or anything.

Make sure you link up next Thursday because I'm giving away a very cool prize from the 80's!

This is a really nice picture. All of my school pics have some weird backgrounds, like fireworks or a galaxy shot, as if we attended class on the Death Star or something. :)

You are so cute! I love that dress. I had a similar one, back in the day, and it made me feel SO pretty!

My one Forever Saved High School Clothing Article does not look at all like your gorgeous dress. Mine is a faded gray Eddie Bauer sweatshirt, shredded along the seams. I used to wear it with pride, but now, after seeing your cute dress, I feel mortified. Hmmmm...

I had a dress VERY similar to that one. Then again most dresses in the 80's were a lot like this one. I LOVED MY DRESS like this... for the life of me I can't remember what color it was, but I remember that collar and the buttons.

Great memory thanks for sharing!

Beautiful dress! I would have saved it, too.

I have a rotten step-mother also...she's only like 3 years older than my HUSBAND! Freaky!

The 80s ruled! We had the best music, best clothes and best movies. OK, so our hair might have been a bit scary at times, but everything else was good :)

Love the feathers girl! I begged for "feathers" on my 8th birthday and I got them! They were awesome. Thanks for leaving a comment on my 'Fro post:) It's nice to meet you and I'll be back to read more! God Bless.

You're lovely, D..oh my goodness! I heart 80s dresses, btw.

I've been watching the news since last night and I'm so worried for you and for B/S. I will be up here praying, and like I told B/S--I have room if you need it, and I sincerely mean that. xoxo

Please update us if/when you can.
