My Problem with American Idol

American Idol is one of my favorite t.v. shows. However, the audition shows are very tedious to me. Tonight was a prime example.

A girl, I'm sorry I can't remember her name, auditioned. None of the judges thought she should make it through. And, while I'm certainly not a judge, I agreed with them. She sounded flat.

But, then they changed their minds for whatever reason that wasn't because she wowed them with a different song. Ok. That's fine. But let's be realistic. She's not going to make it past Hollywood. And she has to pay for her own way there.

So, basically, for "good" t.v., they are wasting this poor girl's time. And worse, wasting her money.

Bleh!

Bring on Hollywood week and the REAL competition!

I think it's different this year. We had freezing rain here and our satelite is out so I did not see tonights. But I think it's getting worse.

I don't watch much American Idol, but I do hate when they let someone to Hollywood week because they feel sorry for the person. I think they do it just to have people to send home that first week. Not only does it waste the people's time and money, it messes with their emotions and self-confidence and makes for a watered-down competition.

I agree with you - bring on the REAL competetion!

J and I were talking about that last night. What is up with that?? Let's just get the real deal on and quit messin' around with all the drama crap.

I second whatever you say. (Mostly because I like you and I don't know anything about AI.)

I thought I had heard not so many audition shows this year, but come on... it is so biased too, if you're young and good looking, even if you can't sing all that well, you'll make it thru! Let's see if tonight is any better!

i have a suggestion to liven up the auditions, shoot anyone who doesn't get to go to hollywood out of a cannon, the winners get catapulted to hollywood

I guess I was naive enough to think Americal Idol would help get them out to Hollywood! Guess I was wrong!
Take care,

While I agree with you 100% about that girl, hubby and I seriously enjoy watching the auditions. It is just so darn funny. I, by no means, can sing. And I wouldn't be caught dead trying out. I guess that's what makes it so funny for me... cuz I could SO be one of those poor saps up there. lol I am looking forward to this year's real Idol competition though!!

I thought tonight was the last of the auditions, but it's on TOMORROW too! And of course I HAVE to watch it, even tho I'm tired of the auditions and I'm SO ready for the real competition to begin! I totally agree with you, tho. Don't waste these people's time - if they know they're just going to cut them in Hollywood, don't bother sending them!

I can't wait for the real competition to begin. I get tired of all the early auditions. Some of them HAVE to know they are lousy, and are just there to try to get 'notice' on TV.
