Ten Things
This week is TAKS week for our Texas schools (don't get me started on standardized testing). What that entails for me is a bunch of downtime. See, I'm qualified to help teach students. I am NOT qualified to give them a test, however. Let me rephrase that. I'm not qualified to administer a TAKS test, but I can administer benchmark (9 week) tests. So, so silly.
So here are 10 things I did at work today:
- Got my comfy chair from the conference room set up between the 3rd & 4th grade bathrooms
- Read 130 pages of Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
- Stretched
- Paced
- Made sure kids did not talk in the hallway and bathrooms
- Ate lunch with Big D
- Heard "at least you can read" about 100 times (altho, it's not a relaxing read)
- Daydreamed
- Watched the clock
- Realized Bear has never seen a breakfast sausage patty (free breakfast on TAKS days, Bear thought the sausage was a cookie so he declined it)
More of the same, minus lunch with Big D, tomorrow & Thursday. I can hardly bear the excitement!

At least it's better than actually taking the test and then having to be stuck in the study hall you hate.
Hope the test isn't too TAKS-ing!
LOL at Bear and the sausage patty!!
I guess you can't sleep in that comfy chair since you're too busy reading and harping on the chatty kids in the hallway and bathrooms.
:-)
Bear said NO to what he thought was a cookie???
Me loves cooookies!!!
I feel the excitement, D, I do! In fact so much so I'm energized and ready to...to..go fine me a sausage patty. Clearly Bear hasn't ben exposed to the finer things in life, D. Tsk.
You are a hoot, girlie, I'll be thinking about your exciting day all day long now. xoxoxo
Ooooh, I feel your pain. I have been stuck testing, which is no better, lemme tell ya. BLECH BLECH BLECH. At least tomorrow's the last day!!!
oh my, sounds like a long boring day!!!Bet you are more tired doing much of nothing than when you are really busy...
Auntie W
Sounds like such the day. I do have to say THANK YOU for posting the title and author of the book that you are reading. I've already put it on hold at our library. I love reading and so does my whole family. I can't wait to get this one and start on it.
Enjoy your days!
How boring for you! TGIF, huh!
He's never, ever seen a sausage patty?? And he lives in Texas?! I guess that is more of a beef state than a pig state. Too funny anyway!
Wow - how did you manage to contain yourself? hehe
Ummmm - Bear doesn't like cookies? Or is he just so darn responsible that he didn't think he should have a cookie for breakfast?
I've missed ya! I'm back now... gonna continue reading your posts now.
Yes, sadly, Texas is a beef state, not a pig state. The rest of us love our pig foods, but Bear is more Texan than us. I've been remiss in teaching/showing him the grand things in life.
Bear loves him some cookies, but Misty Dawn hit the nail on the head. Mr. Rigid Rule Follower doesn't believe cookies are for breakfast. Where did this kid come from?
Kim, I finished Inkheart and really enjoyed it. They are making a movie of it with Brendan Fraser. Should be good!
