Sincerely 'Fro Me to You - Lovey Edition

The Cast of Characters:From Left to Right: Baby Sheep, Savannah, Rosie, Rejected Grown Up Rosie, Rejected Grown up Savannah, Teddy, and Blue Bear. While they all may be a little worse for wear, they were all very well loved. All but one have been lovingly stored away. When the kids saw them out, they were very happy to see their old friends. Lamb was almost afraid of touching Rosie & Savannah, but she quickly got over it and inhaled their sweet smell again.
I desperately wanted to name Lamb Savannah Rae but Big D was just as adamantly opposed to it. So I did the next best thing. I bought a doll & named her that. Savannah was with Lamb on the day she was born.
A few months later, Rosie came to live with us.
They were constant companions. When Lamb learned to talk, she couldn't say their names so they were "Ro Ro" and "Sanuhnuh."
Lamb had a bad habit of chewing on poor Rosie's hair. In one particular spot only. Rosie now sports a lovely bald spot.
Right before Bear was born, we had the I'm A Big Girl talk. And since she was growing up, we figured Rosie & Savannah were growing up too. We bought new dolls to represent the grown up Rosie & Savannah. Lamb didn't bond with them though. She turned her affections to Baby Sheep. Baby Sheep squeaked. Yay us. We went through 3 of those Baby Sheeps. We could have kept going but we couldn't find them anymore.
That's Teddy in the corner of the crib. He's also been with Bear since birth. He was a gift from my good friend who is now my aunt (the kids call her Great Aunt with hilarity because she's younger than me!).
Teddy stayed with us for a long time. You can see that he's lost weight and his handsome bow tie.
He stayed even though he was abused by Bear. You can see his poor cataract eyes caused by Bear's fits. Bear would get mad & throw poor Teddy. Concrete is hard on a Teddy Bear's eyes.
Then Blue Bear came into our lives. He's a NASA bear. Just like Teddy, Bear likes to hold Blue Bear under his nose. Blue Bear is still with us, but don't let Bear know I told you....

That is awesome.
We have a few 'lovies' over here and I think I am as attached to having them around as the kids are...I will be sad the day they go on the shelf....

You guys have some serious lovey's! What a great post. We are blankie people around here. All my kids have one. I actually took my older kids blankets and had their name embroidered on them before I put them away. The lady was like, "why?" as she held them up as if they were infested.

This is such a sweet post. My kids have a bazillion stuffed animals between them, but not one specific one they are completely attached to.

Precious photos!

We have had more than our share of loveys, too. DS had a purple hippo for the longest time. One day we saw the EXACT hippo run over in the road. Hubs and I laughed until we cried. DS was sure it was his and had escaped the house somehow. It was safe in his room when we got home :-)

Awwww. I still have Theodore Edward Bear too. (Ted E. Bear)

I got him a LOOOOONG time ago and gave him to my husband when he and I were dating. Hubby has taken good care of him all of these years together!

I can really appreciate you post and the sentiment involved!!

What a wonderful post! All those pictures are adorable!

I actually still have the bear that was my first stuffed animal ever. My mom bought it when she first found out she was pregnant with me. He is practically hairless now, but so many great memories!

Your kids will treasure these pictures!

These pics are so cute! I love how you even included the rejected loveys because even they need love too :)

I think Teddy is my favorite...he looks like the typical teddy who gets carried around. In fact he sort of looks like the one that little Michael carries around in Peter Pan. Adorable!

Sweet, sweet pictures. Aren't they so peaceful when they are asleep? On a different note....you are torturing me with the LOST spoiler? Do I want to know it? Do I not want to know? What's a LOST fan to do? :) Take care, Julie

Those are adorable pictures. My 4 yr old still sleeps with her pink teddy bear she's had since she was a baby. I need to take some pictures like these. Thanks for sharing. :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this post and the pics and the memories!

Since we were sheep farmers, it became tradition that when a friend or relative had a baby, we bought the baby a stuffed animal lamb. This started with my oldest niece, who will be 9. Well, I got a frantic message from my sister-in-law one day - "I NEED you to find another "sheepy" (original with their names aren't they?) and it needs to be just like the other one. You know, old and tore up and stuff. The girls (she now had three daughters) now fight over Sheepy and I can't get them to stop!" For weeks, I looked high and low, but could not find another 'sheepy' - all I could picture is that commercial where the mother goes and buys a new teddy bear and runs it over with the van and throws it in mud... have you see that commercial? it cracks me up.
OK - I'm done rambling now.
