What the Johnny Cash?

Believe it or not, Bear was a late talker. And, when he started to talk, Lamb was the only one who could understand him. Also, he has never stopped talking. The boy loves the sound of his own voice. No lie.

But, also, when he started to talk, I noticed an alarming trend. It started with the words "pee pee" and "poo poo." Nothing wrong with that, right? All kids learn & use those words. However, Bear was using them as CUSS words. I put a stop to those, but they were replaced. He started using "Beeeeep" in place of where a naughty word would go. It took a little longer, but I *think* I have that one nipped in the bud too. Oh, dang. Who am I kidding? He still forgets & does it sometimes.

He has a new one now. A couple of years ago, he discovered the wonder that is Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash became his new favorite word. It's one of those phrases that can be used for anything. His favorite being "That's so Johnny Cash!" to refer to something awesome or ludicrous. He has now turned it around again. Last night, I heard him utter the phrase, "What the Johnny Cash?"

I have a feeling the teenage years are going to be a riot.

This made me laugh. So far I've only had to stop the "beep" phase. Hopefully this one will be short lived for you. :)

Oh that's classic! I'm going to start using that, too!

P.S. I recorded the Johnny Cash documentary on PBS the other night - haven't watched it yet tho. I'll save it if you didn't happen to catch it.

It makes me smile that he still says Johnny Cash. I don't think I have ever known another kid who even knows who Johnny Cash is, but much less use his name as slang! Love it!

Given that I've got a 6-year-old who just discovered putting "a*s" and "hole" together, I'll take "beeeeep" anytime. And I'd definitely take "What the Johnny Cash!"

Dang it, Bubba's Sis, I was thinking it was on the 15th for some reason. I've been doing that a lot lately.

Patois, please don't think my youngest hasn't discovered those words. He gets quite the giggles when he hears one. He has a fascination with naughty words & how to get around them. For instance, I don't allow them to say Shut Up. So he'd say: Shut the door up.

thanks for posting on my site.

That's so Johnny Cash - thanks for sharing. Pretty similar to my FRUIT LOOPS! comment. But that's only in complete bad situations! Like when the baby takes off his diaper and I'm not fast enough replacing it ... FRUIT LOOPS!

That kid totally cracks me up! I can't wait until he's a teenager - he will so be the class clown. And will so give you a run for your money, girlfriend. What a Johnny Cash thang to look forward to.

LOL..so happy I am past the teenage years. My daughter was about 22 when she said that it appeared that "you and Dad really did know what you were talking about most of the time". I got that in writing...
