Let's Talk Baseball

Now that I know that the people I care for are safe, I can focus on selfish things. As I mentioned earlier, we were supposed to have Bear's family birthday celebration yesterday. As I feared, the game was not held. Poor Bear. He's disappointed but he has learned that things don't always go the way you want them to. And, he knows that we'll make it up to him. Besides, he never knew about the message being sent to him.

However, the game was played. In what was supposed to be a neutral location, Milwaukee, WI. BTW, Milwaukee is about 90 miles from Chicago. The Chicago Cubs are who the Astros were playing against. I ask you, does that sound neutral?

To make matters worse, our guys have been through a hurricane. They are concerned about their families, friends, homes. Like the rest of us, I'm sure they've had little sleep. Yet, they were asked to get on a plane at 4:30 am and without rest, play a game.

They were told that they are the home team. Our guys said, "No, we are not playing at home. We will wear our away uniform." They are as upset about this as the fans are.

This is a critical series for the Astros. We are very close to the Wildcard which means they have a chance at the play-offs for National League Championship which could then lead to a World Series win. We need to win this series.

Yesterday's game was a shut-out. The Astros lost. I think there should be an asterisk by this game. The Cub's did not earn a true shut-out status, in my opinion.

And I'm not just saying that because Bear's game got screwed.

I am so glad you are ok! I have been thinking about you all and praying you were safe. I'm not as brave as you all! I got out as quick as possible! Maybe I would have stayed if I wasn't going to be alone? I'm not sure. Anyway, a month for electricity? That's just rough. And about the game, Milwaukee is NOT neutral!
Take care,
Julie

Poor Bear. He really picked a crappy month to be born in, didn't he? Ya'll's tickets will be good for another game, right? And you can reschedule the Jumbotron thing?

I'm with you, that just doesn't sound fair. If you cannot call a game for a dang hurricane, what can you call it for???

Thanks for all the support! Muah!

Bubba's Sis, no, we have Sunday tickets and those ticket holders have to wait to see if they'll play on the 29th. How sucky is that? And, if they play during the day, then we can't go because we can't talk off after having over a week vacation. So, our only hope at this point is a night game on the 29th. If they don't play, then they'll have to refund us but it'll be too late to exchange them for another game.

I decided last year to become a cubs fan. Not because I watch them, or listen to them, or own any single piece of clothing that has a C on it. Just cause I needed to choose sides. Guess I should play the lottery next? all the cubbies needed was for me to become an official "fan".

Glad you are all safe at home, chin up bear!
